Aunque en principio nuestro destino a mitad de camino era Lorca este año, y al final decidimos cambiarlo por Baza, antes de llegar a La Unión decidimos pasarnos unas horas por Lorca y comprobar “in situ” las huellas dejadas por el terremoto de mayo de 2011.
Esta localidad no es ajena a los acontecimientos naturales que dejan profundas huellas en su fisonomía y en la memoria de sus gentes. Ya en 1973, el 19 de octubre, Lorca sufrió, junto con Puerto Lumbreras, unas terribles inundaciones que provocaron más de 50 muertos.
